Extinction

Aug - Ongoing 2018

In light of the period of mass extinction that we are currently living in, I am painting animals that have either gone extinct or are on the road to extinction. Once the only method to capture an animal was through art, and that time may come back around a repeat itself once photography is no longer an option.

Animal Portraits

May - June 2018

Working closely with animals and photography, I wanted to get a personal encounter with an array of different creatures to portray the extent of their 'humanity' and emotions that so many people tend to overlook.

Using editing software, I have removed the backgrounds to focus completely on the animal. Black and White has been used to enhance the detail and texture of their fur/skin, and show off their beauty.

Solid Plastic

Apr 2018

A carry on with casting, however, looking closer at context of plastic pollution in our environment.

If plastic bottles were looked at as a solid, indestructible material, would we change the way we look at them? Would we be so willing to throw them away?

Nature Will Always Win ext.

Mar 2018

Extended project. Instead of looking at single use disposable items, I wanted to look at something more permanent.

During this 7 week project, I casted a window frame, inspired by old,  buildings and architecture which nature has reclaimed over the years.

Nature Will Always Win

Jan-Mar 2018

As solid and unshakable as we think our civilization is, its grip on nature is tenuous at best. If any cracks appear in the faces of our buildings or our machines, nature is quick to move in and take over. Inspired by the cracks in pavements, our tendency to pollute our environment and how nature fights back in the battle for space.
